Brian Sullivan is our Senior Pastor
He was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and spent the majority of his childhood in Los Altos, California. He was raised in the Catholic Church and was born-again in his freshman year at Los Altos High School through a winter camp put on by Young Life's youth group he attended throughout High School.
After graduating, Brian joined the US Air Force and became a Law Enforcement Specialist, K-9 Handler after completing Basic Training, the USAF Police Academy, and the DOD K-9 Training School, all in Texas. He then served at Minot AFB in ND, Osan Air Base in South Korea, and at March AFB in California. He also continued his education while in the service through the Community College in the USAF.
It was while he was serving in the USAF that he left the Catholic Church, began studying under Bible teachers on or near the Air Force Bases, and started playing in worship groups. In his final year in the USAF Brian was asked to lead a home study by a group of people at Harvest Christian Fellowship, and that continued for six years. He also met Karen while at March & Harvest and about a year later, they were married. Karen has been serving alongside him ever since.
Leaving the USAF with an Honorable Discharge, Brian continued to teach and lead worship at Harvest and the home study group. He worked in a number of different industries while completing his formal education and began to focus his work in the high-tech sector where he remains today.
Brian continued in music ministry and teaching and spent fifteen years under Pastor Larry Elizondo's supervision at Calvary Chapel in Aptos, CA. After completing pastoral and Church Planting training through Calvary Chapel's Regional leadership team and Larry's personal guidance, Brian was ordained at Calvary Chapel Aptos in California on Father's Day in 2014 and accepted the role of Assistant Pastor. When Pastor Larry prepared to retire, he asked Brian to become his replacement as Senior Pastor for Calvary Chapel Aptos. The church's board was unanimous in their support, and Brian became their Senior Pastor upon Larry's retirement and remained there until January of 2021.
Through quite a remarkable set of circumstances and confirmations, the Lord paved the way for Brian and Karen to relocate from Aptos, CA to Hudson, WI and they have been attending Calvary Chapel Solid Rock since January 30th, 2021. Soon thereafter, Brian was asked if he would assist in leading worship, then to fill in as a teacher on Wednesday evenings, then on the occasional Sunday, and then to take on teaching the Wednesday Evening Service each week. From there, he was invited to become an elder, and then the Associate Pastor. Finally, with the loss of the previous Senior Pastor, the church body moved to have Brian become their Senior Pastor officially beginning on September 1, 2022. The Calvary Chapel Association also approved Brian for the position and the church remains a recognized and authorized body within the Association.
